Blast from the Past

As David and I have renovated this house over the past 33 months - we have found a couple of items of paper hidden behind counters and in walls. I'm always looking to see if they are from an interesting time long ago. Each time, I've been fairly disappointed. A Reader's Digest from 1995 isn't super excited. Well, we hit the jackpot today. David was tearing up the flooring where our laundry room used to be to replace it and re-do some of the plumbing. All of the pipes were wrapped with aluminum foil and old newspapers. The first one we pulled out was from 1948 and one of the articles talked about President Truman. Unfortunately the all of the paper around the plumbing was pretty waterlogged. And while trying to pull it off, all the papers just ripped in our hands. So, we weren't able to save it. However, down in the crawlspace beside the plumbing were a couple of rolled up newspapers that weren't wet. I pulled it out and the paper is the Nashville Banner from November 11, 1958!! So Cool!! I'd love to try and figure out something artsy to do with it for the house once it's finished. Not really sure what we can do though.

If I can figure out something cool to do with it - I'll try to remember to post it on here!
