Friday night thought stream

Just got finished making some white chocolate bread pudding from a recipe my cousin shared with me.  Well, not really white chocolate since I picked up the vanilla candy coating from the grocery store instead of the white chocolate.  But, I'm rolling with it - we'll see how it turns out.  I'm also listening to the new album, Barton Hollow, by the Civil Wars - download it!  Probably for the 10th time this week and the 3rd time today (album came out on Tuesday).  Went with my mom and some beautiful girlfriends to their show last night in Nashville at a tiny little venue called the Basement.  We arrived an hour before the doors opened and got in line about 30 minutes before doors opened.  And it. was. freezing.  But we had amazing places (standing room only) to watch the show.  So totally worth it!!
A girl named Lucy Schwartz opened and she was fabulous - plan on buying some of her music soon as well.

Anyways, as I mentioned my mom is in town this weekend.  That's one of the reasons I took off work today.  She came up to see the kitchen and to help us finish the kitchen and then throw a party for all of our friends who helped out.  Which can I stop and say what amazing parents I have?!  Worked on our house several several times over the past couple of years and then come up to help us throw a party for the people who helped us.  Wish Dad was here this weekend, but he wasn't able to get off work.  :(  Anyways, we worked all day today and will have a full day tomorrow before our guests arrive.  One big reason I am excited about the party is that because I will finally be able to share pictures of our finished kitchen!!! We really wanted to wait and I can not believe that I actually was able to hold off not posting pictures online.  But, I guess it really wasn't that hard, because I just didn't put the pictures on my computer from the camera. :)

Tonight mom made one of my favorite meals (roast, rice, gravy, peas and cornbread) at David's request....because....David got started a full time architecture job this past Monday!!!  It was literally an answered prayer and proof to me that God wants to hear from me even when I feel like he's got bigger things to handle - but that's another post entirely.  If this news seems kind of a sudden - it felt like that to me as well.  David had met with the architect once before and was planning on having lunch with him last Wednesday to talk about maybe coming on part time if some more projects came through.  We've been hearing this line since David was laid off in May 2009 so we weren't really expecting anything to come from the lunch, but just another opportunity to network.  I got a call on my lunch break from training (so thankful to actually be at my desk) and it was David telling me he accepted a full-time offer.  So, he's back on the path of becoming a licensed architect and he will have vacation time for the first time in 20 months.  And within just one week, the guys at his firm have made him feel like a valuable part of the team.  Still doesn't feel like it is really happening.  As for my job, I'm actually really enjoying it.  The traveling. the work.  everything.  Its such a nice change of pace from the assistant work that I was doing for the past three years.  I still have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying the challenge and trying to embrace it.  Being gone from home hasn't been terrible for me (David might think otherwise) except on the days when I am traveling all day or there are a lot of delays.  Otherwise, it's pretty fast paced and a couple days have passed by before I realize it.   Also, very excited because next week when it's super cold in Nashville, I'll be in sunny (and 70 degree) Miami for 3 days. :)  A couple of weeks after that I will head to Buffalo, NY for a couple of days and am hoping to get to see Niagara Falls for the first time!!

Okay, so that  was long and rambling - but that's what has been going on at our place lately.

House pictures coming soon - PROMISE!
